We are Flossy’s Ice Cream, a brother-sister duo who have joined forces to create the ultimate ice cream experience!
Who are we?
I am Annie - The Creative Mind. Or ‘Flossy’ as my family affectionately call me. I have an immense passion for food – especially ice cream! I am a qualified Food Technologist, and love creating new and exciting flavour combinations.
I am Matt - The Business Mind. I take care of all things business and money. I have a background in accountancy and finance roles, and love being able to work with my sister to create a business we are passionate about.
How Flossy’s Ice Cream was created
The idea for Flossy’s Ice Cream started while traveling overseas, where we stumbled across ice cream being made using the magic of Liquid Nitrogen- igniting our interest and sparking our imaginations. After lots of research, a few years deliberation, and recognising a gap in the NZ market, we decided to bite the bullet and go for it! After a few months and many long distance chats later (Matt was living in a van in Europe at the time), Flossy’s Ice Cream was born!
Our Journey
We embarked on our “Nitro” ice cream journey in 2018, taking on summer in the Coromandel, bringing a taste of Flossy’s to markets and fairs. During this time, we were able to get to work - creating the most delicious flavour combinations, refining our dairy and coconut base recipes, as well as perfecting the liquid nitrogen freezing process. What an incredible learning journey!
As we grew and expanded, we started to attend various events, functions, and trade fairs, and also began to immerse ourselves within the wedding industry. Since then, we have continued to test out many seasonal flavours, grow our brand, build our customer base, and find our love for weddings and special events.
Over a year into the Flossy’s Ice Cream journey, and with the amazing support from our family and friends, we have come so far! And we can’t wait to see what the future holds!
